Innovation & Technology.
Top technology: our target. It means not merely words, but solid investments destined to the production of polystyrene and plastic transformed items in the Manaus Industrial Pole.
Innova produces in the Amazon polystyrene (GPPS and HIPS), polypropylene films (BOPP), PS (polystyrene) sheets, ABS-Compounding as well as plastic closure caps.
Most of all, Innova provides qualification for Brazilian talents in various areas.
This section also presents the Styrene’s Technology Center (CTE), housed in the Triunfo Petrochemical Plant, national reference in patents.
The CTE’s DNA for innovation is a precious asset for Innova.
Innova´s Unit IV, at the Manaus Industrial Pole, is the first petrochemical in northern Brazil.
It houses the production of polystyrene with technology provided by Total Fina, a French-Belgian corporation, fourth biggest oil company in the world.
The system implanted in Videolar is fexible and can be switched to produce GPPS (general purpose) or HIPS (high impact) polystyrene, according to the market demands.
The styrene monomer, essential raw material for the process, arrives from the Gulf of Mexico to the Petrobras Port Terminal and reaches Videolar through a 4-quilometer pipeline.
The polystyrene is produced by polymerization: a simple group of atoms is transformed in a structure with high molecular weight, composed by smaller and identical structural units.
From monomer to polymer. From styrene to polystyrene.
Since the begining, in 2002, the petrochemical created by Innova catalyzes and capacitates skilled labour in the region.
Innova´s Unit II, in Triunfo (Rio Grande do Sul, south of the country), is the first and only integrated plant in Brazil, producing styrene monomer and polystyrene: GPPS (crystal), HIPS (high impact) e o EPS (expandible).
Unit II also houses the Styrenics Technology Center (CTE), internacional reference in patents for the segment.
Industrial I was created to house state-of-the-art equipments for the bi oriented polypropylene (BOPP) plastic films and also polystyrene (PS) plastic sheets industrial processes.
Innova produces bi oriented polypropylene (BOPP) with Andritz technology, an Austrian company with tracking records stretching back a hundred years with the highest prestige in the segment.
Innova produces reels of polystyrene (PS) sheets with technology from Weles, a north-american top company in the segment.
The whole project resulted in a consistent knowledge and expertise input for the professionals in Manaus, since it is the only industrial plant to produce plastic films and sheets in the northern and northeastern regions of Brazil.
The highest standards in environment preservation were respected, as the ISO 9001 e ISO 14001 certificates attest.
The whole concept of Innova's bottle caps industry was created on the premise that today is conscience and requirement by the major clients in the beverage segment: the rational use of raw materials and natural resources, providing nature-friendly products.
Innova produces its caps by compression, using state-of-the-art equipments, enabling a stable and homogeneous manufacturing process. This technological choice generates energy economy and waste reduction, in line with the corporate attitude regarding rational and shrewd use of natural resources.
The caps printers offer high quality and precision even in little details over irregular surfaces, granted by a process called pad printing, clearly better tha the others.
Innova is able to produce more than 2 billion plastic caps per year.
Our industrial-scale equipments (a co-extrusion line, an injector and thermoforming machines) reproduce main processes from the area. This way we are able to test the best combinations between our resins and the clients' processing machinery. In other words: risk reduction, saving of time and efforts.
Rheology and Simulation Lab
Our extrusion capillary rheometry system is able to check the resins performance in different processing regimes, using reduced ammounts of samples.
The generated information also serves as input data for the co-extrusion simulator, determining specific operational conditions for each Innova grade.
As a result, clients achieve the best operational conditions with less attempts, which means maximum productivity.
This lab develops new products and tests new formulations for available grades, in order to enhance competitiveness.
A series of pilot scale tests are performed by the Polymerization System developed by Innova’s T&D staff, reproducing the HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) manufacturing process, speeding up the development cycles for new items.
This lab characterizes in details composition, structure and properties of the developed products, as well as final items such as sheets, packages (injected and thermoformed), disposable foamed items or even durable goods like cooling and electronic products.
The CTE also gives assistance to clients from the styrenic area (acrylic resins, polyesters, elastomers and EPS).
